My Conflict with My Clay

By August 19, 2011 Sermon Notes

When you were slaves to sin, you felt no obligation to righteousness, and what did you get from this? Nothing but experiences that now make you blush, since that sort of behavior ends in death. Now, however, you have been set free from sin, you have been made slaves of God, and you get a reward leading to your sanctification and ending in eternal life.

Rom 6:20-22 (Jer)
The work God has put in us will make us slaves to Him.  Slaves don’t talk back or resist their masters, in fact slaves want to be like their masters.
A thought:  We had no problem being on the pottery wheel of sin why is it so hard to be on God’s Wheel?

Sin PAYS its servants: the wage is death. But God GIVES to those who serve him: his free gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 6:23

Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.  1 Pet 2:16 (NIV)
God’s workmanship on our lives should push us closer to Him, not further away. Job. Talent. Passion. Relationship. All of it! It’s NOT about you , it is about His work in you.

My brothers, you were called, as you know, to liberty; but be careful, or this liberty will provide an opening for self-indulgence. Serve one another, rather, in works of love.  Gal 5:13 (Jer)
Let’s do some works of love, Living Room!
It’s not about structure, programs, events, nor fund raising. It’s all about the sprit of love being shared.
God bought us out of sin and into His work for our lives. Now we must allow Him to pull the sin out of us!!!

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. I tell you the truth, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.” Mat 24:45-47 (NIV)
Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.  John 15:20
