Christmas is NOT All About Giving, It’s About RECEIVING!

By January 6, 2012 Sermon Notes
Vision is the ability to see the future achievement of The Plan God has for your life.

  • God Has a Personal Plan For You
There are no cookie cutter plans in God’s kingdom. God has individually tailored a plan specifically for you.

Grace is a Godly characteristic that determines Gods posture towards His children whereby he generously and freely loves, forgives, favors, and exalts undeserving sinners into Sonship

(excerpt taken from Breathing Grace)

  • God’s Grace is Amazing.
My Microsoft dictionary defines amazing this way: “so extraordinary or wonderful as to be barely believable or cause extreme surprise.”

When we don’t know who we are in Christ we become insecure in our identity
•Insecurity is Wrong security exposed
•Insecure people fill their lives up with busyness and gift giving to drown the pain of the orphan spirit; to try to create a sense of significance and importance
• Our identity is in christ

  • God desires for us to receive his gift to us this year…. CHRIST
Don’t get so caught up in giving gifts that we forget to receive The Gift

    Matthew 1:18-25
“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
What are you pregnant with tonight?
Is it from the Holy Spirit or from you?

Luke 2 The Birth of Jesus
1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to their own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them. 8 And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.

The shepherds were doing their normal routine until God interrupted and gave them an “instant message” IM. The message was that

Christ was born
Any one can get an IM, we just have to be online. If we aren’t online we won’t get the message ‘til later

Luke 2:9-12
And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. (10) And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people.

Jesus is for ALL people! The good news of joy. The gift of Christ. And grace
It’s on us to take this gift and give Him to the world.
(v11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (v12) And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, (14) “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom He is pleased!
15) when the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherd said to each other let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing which the lord has told us.

When God gives us a word we have to get on the move!
God has planted a vision inside all of his children
Vision: The ability to see – Awareness; The faith to believe – Attitude
The courage to do – Action
